I've been looking at some rebuild kits. They have been priced from $400 (ebay) to $1200 (classic inlines). The classic inlines seems pricey but they have a good number of things I was planning on putting anyways, such as: the larger hydraulic cam, flat top pistons, dual roller timing chain, and so on. SO think it'd be better to dish out the large amount of money and know what I'm getting, or order what I want from classic inlines and figure out where to get the other parts for the rebuild?

Same thing for the cylinder head. I was thinking about rebuilding that and throwing in components to run unleaded gas, but now I'm thinking of finding a later head and just rebuilding that. What do you guys think?

    Thanks!

What are your goals? Why are you rebuilding your motor? What size motor are we talking about?

I want a little more power. Not a power house but just something. Later I want a dual outlet header and a larger exhaust. Want somewhere around 150hp. I like the 6 because I can work on it and like the idea of at least 20mpg after a mild performance build

Well I want the 200. I don't want to bother with an engine swap until I learn more and have another car. And its my daily driver do I want decent mileage

It has the 4 lug stock rear end. My grandpa has a 5 lug rear end waiting for my car. Not sure on the specs. I think it's geared more towards a manual transmission

    if it's a stock Mav/Comet, it's a 2:79 or 3:00.
are you rebuilding the transmission at this time also to handle the extra power?

Well I should've thought about that soon. It was rebuild over summer. I imagine its for stock power.

are you pulling the motor and taking it to them? the reason for all these questions is...trying to get you a budget set for this build.
you will need a new/reconditioned radiator for the new motor also...need to flush heater core.

I was planning on upgrading the radiator anyways. And maybe pulling it and taking it to them. That depends if I fond a way to pull it and put it in without too much of a problem
