I have a 1977 Mav with a 250 auto. I just replaced the waterpump Wednesday. I took it out today to get some gas. Well on the way to get gas I forgot my wallet so I turned back around when I got home I noticed smoke coming out of the hood. Then I noticed I had antifreeze coming out of the crack between my oil pan and the bottom pulley butt together. COuld anyone tell me what is going on.

    thanks
    Jerome

P.S. This is my very first project car and it is a learning experience for me also.

I would re-check that ALL the bolts are tight first.

I believe the water you are seeing is not 'coming out of the crack', it's collecting there from the the leak.

I would also put more water in the radiator, crank the engine and look for where the anti-freeze is coming from.

You might've cut the gasket or misaligned the gasket during the install.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the help I check the bolts and gaskets. I found that the lower hose had a leak in it. It's always the simple things that get me.
