So i'm just about to drop in a new 302 5.0 in my 77' Mav but the problem is it's a 77' and in California.... double whammy! Need to be able to smog.

So i'm on the hunt of smog/vacuum line pictures which can aid me in making my car legal.

If anyone out there can help it would be much appreciated:Handshake
If any have indepth photos under the hood of a Cali legal 77' or anything close that can aid me in putting my baby back together would be great.

    Thanks!!!

i think the EGR valve, PVC line and pollution pump line into the exhaust manifold from the pump are the only ones you need for emission testings. theres also the vac advance on the distributor that needs to be hooked up and you have a catylitic converter right?

Ya, when i bought the car a month ago it passed smog better than most new cars, then 3 weeks later it blew up.
Honestly i know not much about cars, i've always wanted to learn how to rebuild a car, so heres my chance.
Breaking down the car is the easy part, putting it back together is the hard part. As you all prolly know well enough. I have the cadylitic converter all the stuff to make it legal, or than the fact i'm gonna have to replace a mile of vacuum line.
And you gotta remember i am a complete beginner in this stuff, learning on the fly. And having the couple gear head friends i have help teach me along the way step by step, telling me what i need to do next, but my buddy has never rebuilt a Ford only Chevy's:rofl2:
But you guys prolly know more about Mavericks than anyone, so i need your help.
If anyone has detailed pictures of the steps in putting back together a 1977 Mav 302 5.0 V8 that would great. I am throwing in a new 302 long block in, so i will be able to do all the pumps, belts, all the big stuff. But it's the little things i'm afraid of doing wrong.

    My e-mail address is mrbyrd1984@yahoo.com

If anyone has any information that may help me put my baby back on the road i will be forever grateful.

    Thanks!!!

Well, that means you have to keep all of the SMOG stuff on the car functional I guess. In Oklahoma, vehicles do not have to conform when they are older than 1980. But we don't have inspections anyway. We used to have a visual inspection (lights, tires, horn, and do cat converters exist), but they did away with it 6 or 7 years ago.

hey in salt lake city if your car falls at all into any emissions era then you have to take it in and have it done. so 1968 on up it really sucks and i don't know why they don't do away with it. most of the rest of the state is exempt just the salt lake, provo, and ogden areas it is required. but i pulled off all the emissions crap off my car anyways. they don't even check to see if it's there most of the time only if your car requires a cat or not. so as long as you car will pass emissions then you wont have a problem. the really strange thing is though that if you put a later model motor in a car that 1968 and newer you have to put that emissions stuff in the older car. and you can't put older or larger then what would have come in the car into the car. utah emissions laws are very strange. and i don't like them.
