So this next month i plan to work on all the suspension/brakes and under carriage of my 75 mav. i then want to drop a 302 5sp into it. my question to you guys is what do you think i should do. once done with all the suspension and brakes and under carriage should i take my i6 out and get the whole car painted or just paint the engine bay once the i6 is out, then drop the 302 in and then paint the rest of the car?

Avoid scratches, nicks, and dings,,, paint last!

yea i think thats what im gonna do. im just gonna take the i6 out to paint the engine bay and then sell it. how much do you think a complete 250 i6 engine and auto tranny with only 39,000 original miles, running no problem could go for?

$150 - $300 is all I would expect unless you found somebody who really needed the engine and transmission. Even with less than 40,000 miles it is still 40 years old.....
