Alright so I just put in a floor shifter from a late 70s mustang and my mav was a column shifter. I had to get a neutral safety switch for the trans and found my old one on the trans. Now I’m stuck trying to figure out how to connect them so I can get the reverse lights to work and the actual purpose of the neutral safety switch. Heres the switch I put on and here’s a pic of the original

On a factory set-up, there is a short wiring harness that goes from the trans mounted neutral safety switch, up thru the firewall, and plug in where the column mounted neutral safety switch was located.

I know it's a pain but the factory switch on the column was controlled by levers on the transmission . The levers moved your column shifter to the neutral and reverse locations .
