:yup: my new Performer RPM intake ...rusted... it was on the motor stand 2 days.
i called Edelbrock tech.and the guy told me it had gotten exposed to some metal during casting process. :slap: he gave me the name of some stuff i could order from... Eastwood...that would take it off. Eastwood is out of stock of
    the ...Oxisol...
i did the next best thing...glass blasted ...powder coated...clear
i dropped it off at 4:00 pm and picked it up at 9:30am the next day...

Is this just a powder coat. I had the same thing with my RPM. I installed the motor early 2006 and it has been in the garage covered well for several months. I took covers off to resume work and noticed that mine was rusting too just sitting there?? I was going to clean with WD and a scotch pad or something. I was wondering why mine did that also.

I think Edelbrock should pay you back for the powdercoat. It is after all their fault that you needed it in the first place.

I would have sent the manifold back as defective.
    Aluminum manifolds should not rust

    I agree.

Or, you could have brought it up here and watched me powder coat it, and got it back in 45 minutes. ;)

I`ve tried to get Frank to go ahead and get a Powder coat System .;)

If he did it would really help to complete his already Sweet shop.

And ...he could get really good at Powdercoating stuff by Practicing on ALL kinds of parts I have that need to be powdercoated.:biglaugh: :yup: :29:

I know but it did. I also looked at my Comp roller rockers and they too rusted a little. I think from moisture getting in under the cover I had over motor. Not water, just moisture. That's the only thing I can think of. It struck me as weird to se it on both parts. I did not put the valve covers on the heads??? I am now racing home to see if this Sh&# comes off.

Yea, same thing goes from motors that arent ran up to regular operating tempature very often. Just quick drives, etc... they tend to have milky looking oil and moisture in valve covers.
Best thing is to drive your car atleast once a month for a bit to get it to tempature to not have this problem.

    Aluminum doesn't rust.
The stuff you see if it was in fact rust would have to have been either metal particles suspended in whatever coating was on the manifold to begin with, or something floating around in your shop that ended up on the manifold. I'd bet they got there at the factory though unless you are machining stuff in your shop.
