I was not ready to post this yet, we are still a week or two away from having everything official; but there has been a lot of e-mails/pm's asking about this so I will go ahead and let everyone know what is going on. :)

    Maverick Comet Group (MCG)
This is something that I have been thinking about for the last 2 years. I have done a lot of soul searching and a lot of research. I have weighed the pro's/con's about starting this group. I have talked to a few individuals in the maverick/comet community about this and I feel that the time is right for the MCG.
I am not starting this with the intent of trying to "dismantle" the MCCI. The MCCI is filled with what I consider, the greatest group of members any car club could ever have. I have made many friends during my time with the MCCI and I hope that those friendships will continue. I think Shawn, Dennis, Dan & Seth are all 1st class individuals. This will not become a battle between the MCCI and the MCG. The club officers of the MCCI and I do not see eye to eye on many matters that I would like to see in a car club. We have tried (both sides) to reach agreements on certain things, but it has not been able to happen.
So this is why I have decided to start the MCG. It will be a place for everyone to come together and be who you are....nothing more, nothing less. This will be a group that will have "voted" positions. There will be elections. The MCG believes "members are your strength and members have a right to chose"
We will have our 1st annual Maverick Comet Group GATHERING, July 24-29, 2007.
Right now we are trying to finalize the details to hold this event in Elizabethtown, KY.
We spent part of the day last Friday checking out hotels in E-town. I am merely waiting on track confirmation as of now. If this doesn't workout, I have a town called Owensboro on stand-bye. Either way, the GATHERING will be held JULY 24-29, 2007.
*We are in the process of building a website for the MCG.
*We are in the process of creating a group LOGO.

    If you have any questions/comments....
    positive.....post them :D
negative....please PM/e-mail me, I do not want this board to be the forum for mud slinging.

This is not something that I am taking lightly, for those that know me know that I do what I say and I give everything 110%.
Again, sorry all the details are not complete, they are being worked on as I write this, I just did not want everyone to think this is a big secret....informed thats what being a member of the MCG is about.

No bridges burned during the making of this group (thanks Dan).

I'll support anything pro-maverick/comet. sorry to say there is no way I'll be able to make it down there. Like you said as long as this isnt a battle between the 2 groups I have no problem throwning my support to you guys as well. Good Luck!

John the MCG has my full support. I am looking forward to the Gathering(kinda cool concept if you remember the movie Highlander, but I got a big nasty war axe instead of a sword, there can be only one:evilsmile )

I would like to reinerate if you do not have anything positive or contructive to add to this post then don't say it on the board take it up on PM or Email.

I would like to say thanks to the MCCI for all that has been done on their end over the past 15 years. Shawn,Dan,Dennis,Seth are a classy group of guys and my :tiphat: off to them for all they have done to promote this hobby.
I would also like to wish the MCCI members and officers continued success in the years to come.

Anyway I am very glad to be part of the birth of the MCG. Good times indeed!!!

So some may be asking where the Maverick Mafia fits in to this? The Maverick Mafia was a prequel to the MCG in it's own way. Is the Mafia died? No way;) It is becoming a sub group within the MCG for racers. I realize my short comings and I admit I am lacking in certain areas to lead a group of people over the long haul. However John and the rest of the MCG have those qaulities. Which is why he and the MCG have my full support. If you are a Mafia member now I would ask you to get in contact with John and join the MCG. If you are a racer please PM me after you sign up with the MCG and give me your name, address as the Mafia will be representing at the race track. I was touched by the support of the Mafia and I will not forget those that became part of the "Family";)

    Frank,

I will not be running the MCG in anyway. I will be a very active member. I will still be a "Maverick Mafia Don" :evilsmile but it is a racers only group. John and I spoke about this very topic. We concluded it was in the best interest of the MCG if I wasn't in any postion of power. Besides that the members will have the real say in where this all goes and Frank I still don't know what I did to you on a personal level. I have expressed my apologies and am again. The feeling of dislike/hate is not mutual in the least bit.

    Lance

Edit:Frank deleted his post pertaining to this response. ;)

Why would you have your "Round-Up" the same week as the MCCI Round-Up? Doesn't that make it hard for people to belong to both clubs?

I bet alot of people would like to belong to and contribute to both clubs.

    :yup:

I am going to sit back and watch. I predict that we are going to have two smaller clubs with neither having the power to be a force with vendors, shows, etc. Even though John has said this will not be a battle between clubs, he has already taken the traditional dates of the MCCI Round-Up. If MCCI does not choose different dates, we will have competing "gatherings" with the larger attended meeting claiming victory or superiority. Mark my words, it will happen if both events are held on the same weekend.

I believe if everyone was made aware of the issues, then all the MCCI members could voice an opinion for change. If the leadership does not wish to make changes of the majority of the mebership, then a major change can be made. I have not a clue what differences there are to prompt this. I would like to know and I would like to know from both sides. All I know is that first I had heard of this was from Lance and I can't put full support behind something I think he had in forming. I know he says he won't have a leadership role, but he will be a spokesman and a seller for new club. My PM box is ready to hear from MCG and MCCI leaders and founders.

I see this as a house divided. It is a divorce. You cannot live with the new wife and the ex at the same time. I'm popping popcorn, getting a big coke, and sitting down to watch.

Sounds interesting...specially a racers only group! I will be supportive, but will not be able to make either the roundup or gathering due to distance:( . I will, however, stay tuned for further info. The MCG sounds intriguing, hopefully the drama everyone fears will be non-existent:D
