Howdy folks! I'm fairly new to this site and am just learning how to navigate through all the forums. Attached is a picture of my 72 Maverick (at least I think I attached it). My friends all think I'm nuts, because I sold a 71 Torino GT convertible (429, 4-speed w/shaker hood) in order to buy a Maverick. But I'm sure that deal makes perfect sense to you guys, right?

I hope to talk to many of you soon.
    Regards,
Jim C. (aka Johnny Hole Shot)

Johnny, very nice MAV!!! Where are you located? Many great people here as I'm sure you'll find out. Have you thought about joining the MCCI(maverick/comet club international)? They (we) have many get togethers during the year and a good place to meet some of those great people here.

Beautiful car. I would have found a way to have kept the rag top too.

Welcome aboard. It would have been nice if you could have kept the Torino too. As for your Maverick, all I can say is WOW!

Thanks for all the kind words. You guys sure know how to make someone feel welcome.

I live in Ortonville, MI about 40 miles north of Detroit, and YES, I absolutely plan to join the MCCI. My first car was a Maverick and I have loved them ever since. Unfortunately I drifted away about 15 years ago to the lure of Mustangs, Fairlanes and Torinos, but I'm back now and don't intend to leave again.

To answer one of your inquiries, yes, this car is "slightly" tubbed. The wheel tubs have not been altered, but the axle was cut 4 inches. It has a 9" rear end with 4.56 gears, coil-over springs, and a 4-link suspension. I also have a 4 point roll-bar and the frame has been tied. The interior is complete and the body is all steel with the exception of the hood.

The motor is a 0.030" over 302 with Dart 2.02 heads and an Eldebrock Air-Gap intake. It has a .566 lift roller cam and 11.5:1 compression. The trans is a C4 with a 3800 stall converter and reverse valve body.

I took it to the strip for the first time last week and it ran 12.23 at 111MPH with bias ply street tires. I have a set of slicks coming soon, so I hope to improve on that.

Late plans call for a 347 stroker, trans-brake and maybe nitrous
    ;)

    Awsome Maverick

Jim, That is a beautiful car! Welcome! you must have had a strong desire to buy this car. A big block with a 4speed and a shaker, and a convertable is usually the things most people crave but I fully understand, I sold a perfect 85 Mustang GT with air and a5speed for my Maverick and Im glad I did! Joe:D
