Young man looking at my maverick next to a 97 mustang 4.6 comments "you should pull the fuel injection off the mustang and bolt on a carb! That would make it fly!"

Guess it was bound to happen.
Not hating on the young guy, just amused!
this was an opportunity to teach. he has a gm car with a 350 and he wants to hotrod! just wish chebby has some speed parts for that motor.:p

all you fuel injection guys out there in mav/commet land, rip them off and bolt on a 600cfm holly. then you will be in the 9's!!:rofl2:

oh jeez....some days i'm just embarrassed to be young, people just don't have knowledge about anything now-a-days. i get almost the same deal every day at college...apparently stock 350's in a monte carlo run 10 flats stock and would kill my comet? same with a 1993 civic with a intake and tinted windows.
some days its just easier to agree with them and move on with your day
i hope you atleast got a good chuckle out of it.

yea, at least this guy is willing to learn. I am not the centre of all knowledge either but I will teach him what I know as I continue to learn this art.

Don't forget that tinted windows do add at least an extra 10 horsepower.:D

Im shocked a young guy even knows what a carb is. HAd my 600 apart on the bench at work last year and the young guys were mind boggled that I could get it back together never mind make it run. LOL. I just laughed and said this is a real easy one. Should have seen carb rebuilds on factory smoggers.

Man when I was in high school all the guys with air shocks, N50's and glass packs thought the were top fuel fast!:biglaugh: My car was a turd and I knew it but at least I wasn't on the Hush Puppy Express. It was a rusted out 66 Malibu from Renton, WA and it you looks closely you will notice the LDO seats I bought from a wrecking yard!

Oh man I hated those.....I had a nissan carb that just wouldn't run right and it was a california carb....I ended up having to get a federal carb rebuild it and finally get that car after a week of fooling with it.....but i remember a certain stromberg on an isuzi that gave me fits as well......

Personally ,I think carbs and fuel injection are close in performance over all from personal exp...........it is just that fuel injection is easier to tune and it lasts.....vrs the jet changes for altitude and seasonal changes.....
