Hey y'all. I've been lurking for about a month, learning everything I can about the Maverick. This weekend I finally got one, so I figured I ought to introduce myself and start participating. I'm Drew, live in Memphis, TN and this is my car: (Got more pics here.) It's a '71 Grabber, got it from a user on this board. I'm quite pleased with the car and I hope TheCure gets a lot of happy miles out of my Camaro. I haven't done anything to the Mav yet except change the wheels and clean it up a bit, but it does need a little work. I want to replace the dash pad and get a new console. Need to rebuild the carb, fix some exhaust leaks, and I have to get the windshield wipers working, but overall it's in really good shape. Nothing really big. Pretty soon I'll start fixing all these things along with whatever else I find, and will probably look to you folks for advice and parts. But for now I just wanted to say hey! Anybody from around my area?
Welcome! I live in Pensacola FL, but I get to Memphis quite often. I lived there for many years and my parents still live there. I bought my 75 from a co-worker that lived in Cordova... around 1991. Sold my first Sprint when I lived off Winchester and Kirby, I don't know if the buyer was local or not. I never saw the car again. This was around 1993. The last time I drove my 75 on a regular basis, I lived on Egypt Central.
Welcome Drew, I'm glad to have another member that stays in Memphis. It's a few of us on here. Nice ride too. looks like you are starting with a nice one. Terrence
Welcome Im about 100 miles south of ya" I go to the motorsports park there about twice a year, Maybe ill see you next summer.
Very nice. Who did you get it from? What seats (front and rear) are in it? And Welcome to the family.
Cool, looks like there are a couple of people in the general area... Rick, the seats probably aren't '71 since they're buckets. There are a few peculiarities that suggest a '73+ parts car was involved at some point, seats might even be from a Comet, although I'm not sure that would make a difference. Anyway, they're high-backed buckets in the front and the rear is a bench. All of the seats are black vinyl with cloth inserts, but that may not be original since the upholstery seems to be pretty new. I'll try to take a couple of interior pics in the daylight...
