    72 maverick
Just registered and this is my first post, so I apologize in advance! Had a 1970 maverick in high school back in 1990-92. was my grandma's (baba as we called her). She has passed on and I am rebuilding another car in her honor. I just bought a 72 maverick with the 302, PS, good body, but bad interior. I also purchased a 1970 mav, with no engine but good parts, A/C ect. What kind of headaches should I expect in swaping parts out of the 70 into the 72. I would like to change bumpers and add the A/C and other small items. Any help would be appreciated. The goal is to have the 72 look like a 70. Thanks in advance.

Well it shouldn't be a pain, but I am a little concerned about your bumper question. If you have a 70 and a 72 then the bumpers are both the same style (small like the old Mustangs). The 72 and 70 look very similar, if not identical, other than maybe the grill, etc depending on what model it is. As far as swapping things, it should all be pretty straight forward. Your donor car will serve as your template for what you need to do to the car you're swapping everything to. Welcome to the board, and keep on asking questions! :) If you have pics of them, then we could maybe tell you things you need to change to achieve your goal. Talk to you later!

    Shouldn't be too bad...

First of all -WELCOME ABOARD!!!!:bananaman

You've come to the right place to have your questions answered. Now then, it is my understanding that the '72 and the '70 are very close in makeup. I don't think that the A/c will work from a 6 to an 8 cylinder, (But I don't know this for a fact, I've been wrong before) Someone here will know for sure. The other parts such as body panels and interior should be the same as long as both cars are 2 doors. If you have any more questions, someone on here can answer them. Believe me- These guys are good!! Country;)

Welcome Baba. Where is the ignition switch on the 70? The very early (Mav 69 1/2) titled as a 70 had a smaller transmision tunnel and other various differances. If the key is on the column of the 70 then it is a later(still70) Mav and everything should swap with little or no problems. Russ
