I finally got another one guys! It took nearly 3 years, as the last one was at Rockingham in June of 2002 ...

The old K / CM record was at 11.944 and 109.44mph held by a 360 Duster (Myron Piatek, a friend of mine in fact). The Mav went 11.855 @ 111.69 mph (y) in the quarter at Rockingham NC (Feb 19). A successful teardown followed that took just over 4 hours to complete (a lot better than 6+ hours my first time back in 2000) resulting in a new world record. Still had 100lbs I could have taken out, but was trying to have some consistency toward eliminations on Sunday.

Dad and I have also set the L / CM and K / CM 1/8 mile records as well. Thus our total stands at 9. Now if I can just get back on track in eliminations like I was in 2003, we'll be in good shape (I haven't gotten out of the second frame yet this year). Next event will be Mooresville NC for IHRA Pro AM. Then Fun Ford Weekend (aka FFW) in Atlanta GA, and I'm hoping to see lots of you there. Last year was a lot of fun. Looking forward to it.

    see ya soon, Raymond... #9208
(BTW, can't wait to see that Super Stock Mav (y) !)

That's cool, glad to hear of your new record!! (y) I'll be at Mooresville alot this year so I may see you there, i'll be racing in the TCI Heads-UP Super Series. Honestly, I can't imagine having to tear everything apart after setting a record.....I have a hard enough time doing it all in my own garage!! :90:

    thanks guys....

Thanks for the well wishes fellas. Teardowns get easier the more you do them, trust me. We typically don't have to pull rods or pistons (though there have been exceptions at times). But normally you only have to pull one head and they check most everything from there. Being a 302, they can see the no. 1 rod and see the casting number on the crank by pulling the distributor (thankfully).
I am sooooooooo looking forward to seeing everyone in Commerce!!!!!! Scrapper, I take it you are going to be there at FFW, yes??

    My remaining schedule:
Mooresville NC April 8-10, IHRA Pro-Am (Mooresville Dragway)
Commerce GA May 15-17, FFW (Atlanta Dragway)
Rockingham NC May 26-28, IHRA Spring Natl's (The Rock)
Carolina Dragway June 8-10, IHRA Pro-Am (Aiken, SC)
Bristol TN Aug 6-8, FFW (Bristol Dragway, Thunder Valley)
Richmond VA Sept 2-4, IHRA Pro Am (VMP)
Budds Creek, MD Sept 23-25, IHRA Pres. Cup Natl's
Rockingham, NC Oct 7-9, IHRA World Finals

Come out and see us at any of these events. Dad and I love to chat it up!
Hopefully I'll be close to most everyone at some point. There are two other Mavericks that run with regularity, 1 in Hot Rod (10.90 class), and 1 in Super Rod (9.90 class).... See ya at the races..!!!.... (y)
