hi folks, i'm not currently a maverick owner but i'm in the market for a clean 4-door '70-'72 car. in the '80's i owned a '72 comet 2-door 200/3spd factory floor shift car with sport buckets (easily one of the most durable, reliable and trouble free cars i've ever owned), and also previously a '73 grabber 250/c4 (a real pounder, admittedly, and my first driver, that had been well abused even before i got to it). both cars have been lost to the crusher, and the sands of time have shifted on, leaving me to appreciate those cars much more in retrospect than when i owned them. the amazing thing that i'm finding, is that the visual appeal of those cars, while definitely rooted in their early 1970's timeframe, is transcendent and i'd say timeless. i guess i've always had a thing for them. plans for a new car would include the RRS (Revelation Racing) stage 2 strut/cobra brake upgrade as well as their shock tower notching kit , and also i will try to adapt the Viking Mustang rack kit for use of saab 900 racks for '64-'66 cars. i also would like to find a front sway bar that is at least 1 1/8" in diameter. ive got an '83 f100 9' rear that i'll narrow down to stock width, and ive got a '69 460 block that i will build for it, which i will back with a built c4, and mount with the Crites Restorations kit for '67-'70 mustangs. why a 4 door, you ask? i actually think the proportions are better...i kind of like the perversity of it, also, they kind of remind me of the austrailian falcon xa/xb 4 doors of the same vintage (they built some smokin' hot 4-door falcons down there)... not to mention that most of the clean cars that are left out there are 4-doors and the more solid, clean, complete, and low mileage, the better.
Welcome to the board!!! There was someone giving away a maverick 4door in CA if your near that. I'm don't remember off hand how much worked it needed but can't beat free. Where are you located btw?
