Hi Everyone My name is Jon and I am a new Member to this Forum.

Can anyone help: I have had my Steering Checked on my Maverick and no problems found. I have had the Suspension checked and Jacked up in various different ways and still no play or obvious problems.

Trouble is when I drive the Car it sometimes steers itself. It feels quite unsafe but all the above was checked by an MOT Station including the rear Suspension.

Is there a common fault that causes this but is undetectable when not dismantled.

    In other words HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get it alighned and have the Tech put about one degree more caster in it. Oh, these cars tend to wander, LOL.

If you have power assisted steering...They tend to wander. There are several issues/adjustments related to the power assist that can cause this. Your best bet is to get a set of ford factory manuals for the car and, read up here. Do a few searches regarding the power steering system here on the forum (The search function is your friend) Just be prepared to read through ALOT of text to glean info related to your issue. Good luck!!!

Having more caster on one side or another will do that. Back in my stock car building days the simple front end formula stated was "the car will turn in the direction of the least amount of positive caster. I ran 1 degree positive on the left front and as much as 6 degrees on the right front. When the driver let go of the steering wheel the car turned left by itself. I know you won't have 5 degree split in a street car but a difference will matter. Something to keep in mind. :)
