Hello, my name is Eric and own a 72 Maverick that my parents bought new when I was 7. It was a 302 with floor shift automatic, black interior and highback bucket seats. My father drag raced the car in the mid-70s with a boss 302 and 4 speed. Soon after that he sold the motor and tranny stuck a Windsor and automatic back in the car and my mother drove it untill I bought it in 82. I have made several modifications to the car throughout the years but the latest have been new paint, fiberglass fenders and hood, front discs. It has a new 347 w AFR heads solid roller cam and a Jerrico 4 speed. We are still working on getting it all together and look forward to getting it out again. Thanks Eric
Welcome! That is cool that the car has stayed in the family. You probably dont know much life without that car huh? Pretty neat. Dan
Very Cool!!!! Welcome. There seems to be alot of you Texans here. Too bad the state is so big. It keeps ya spread out.
Very nice ride. Nice to know the life of the car, with being in the family all its life. Keep us posted. Welcome aboard.
Awesome car. Is a Jerrico 4 speed like a toploader? Is that tranny for racing? I'm thinking of replacing my 3-speed manual with a toploader. -Erick
Welcome Eric. That's a sweet looking Maverick. I love the part about it's family history. You never have to guess about who owned it in the past and what they did to it. Good to have you here.
hi eric, welcome to the board. where is bedford? i was just in ft. worth and saw they are building a new drag strip near odessa/midland area about an hour south of the other one on I-20.
Great story on the car and Welcome to the board. We'll be expecting to see you in the DRAG RACING Forum!
Bedford is in north Texas between Dallas and Ft. Worth. The Jerrico is based on the Toploader but is lighter and stronger and is used in most, if not all of the NASCAR Nextel Cup and I guess the Busch series racing. I believe it can be used on the street but If your car is mostly street driven the Toploader will perform just fine and will save you lots of money too. I usd the Big input Toploader in mine on the street and strip for years and never had any problems. Since the car will be drag race only now I went with the Jerrico for durability reasons. Oh! and not to mention the fact that with the new 6208 headers I bought, the Z bar for the clutch linkage will not clear. I had to go with a cable type clutch and nobody makes a scattersheild for a big input w/ cable clutch. So my options were to go with a small input Toploader or the Jerrico. Eric
I do like that car! I like the boss looking "C" stripe on the side. What will the car run in the 1/4. Now that your here, have you looked into joining the MCCI? Great club of great people. We have a nationals that will be held in Owenboro, Ky. the last part of july 2005. Thur will be drag racing day, the only people on the track will be club members. Check out the "Club news" forum. Look for anything to do with the "Round Up". And welcome
