Well my '72 has been on the road for a week or so now. I drove it down to Terry's yesterday and bought the rust free hood off his '76 parts car. The red dosen't match perfect, but it's good enough. The engine from the '74 Grabber is running better then ever, the rebuilt transmission I got from Jerry (Scrapper60) works excellent, and overall the car drives very well other then a little shudder over 65 mph. I'll fix that this weekend by putting the almost new idler arm and tie rod ends off the '74 on it. I also still have to fix the wireing on 3 of the side marker lights to get them working again and I have to splice a new plug on the wireing harness so I can hook the passenger side sport lamp up. The drivers side one plugged right up and works fine, but someone cut the plug off the passenger side for some reason. The grill and sport lamps were original to my '74 Grabber. Right now the interior is a mess, so I didn't take any pictures of it. I've got to finish installing my stereo and gauges, put in some carpet, and clean everything up inside and it will look pretty nice. I also need to put some new shocks on, but other then that the car is pretty much done for the time being. The car has some rust and bondo in the rear quarters and front fenders, but it's not to bad. Really it's about the perfect daily driver. It's not nice enough to worry about getting dirty, but it dosen't look like a complete junker either like the '74 did. Overall I think it cleaned up well and I am happy with it. I still need to adjust the hood and grill to get them to fit just right, and I will have a straighter front bumper on the way shortly. I drove it to school for the first time today (I admit I was slightly nervous makeing that same left turn where I wrecked the '74), and everyone seems to really like the car. It'll never be quite the same to me as the '74, but at least it's a Maverick. You can click the 72 Maverick link in my signature to see what the car looked like when I bought it from Clint on December 1, 2005.
Jamie, Glad to see you are "mobile" again. The red is a nice color too! It's coming along nicely, you already did a lot of work, so I hope you're pretty darn pleased with yourself (you should be!). Art
Glad your back on the road. Remember, a less than perfect Maverick looks better than any other car on the road.
what ever happened with the court and all that... did they settle yet? also with the car being red, it will be easier to see in rain, glad to see you got back on the road...
