    After reading this thread http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=21200 and the threads about everybody helping out Yellow72Mavrick, I thought about setting up a sub forum under the classifieds for free parts/cars where the buyer would have to pay shipping only. It would be maverick/comet only and I could set it up so only members can see it and/or make the forum available to members with 10 or more posts (like the off topic forum) Please give me some feedback on this idea.

    Yes, I like that it would only be open to active members. Otherwise, you may end up with "outsiders" trolling for free parts to resell on ebay.

    Free = Good

    I can't believe it, FREE parts. You guys are nuts.

    Time to get my wish list ready.

    Along with required membership, let's require documentation (pics) and a "how you did it documentary" for our forums. Maybe we could say that to receive parts you must have something listed for free?? I don't know...

    I've got a front and back window off a 74 if someone wants 'em - FREE (you pay shipping) (y)

    Just a thought.

    Another board I'm on has a "pay it forward" thread. If you have something to give away, you advertise it, someone wants it they post back, first come, first served.The receipent pays only shipping. Then, the receipent advertises what he/she has available and the chain continues. So that if you get something, you give something, except the originator, who can get something back later.

    Sometimes you have a single line of people. Sometimes you have half a dozen people giving and getting at the same time, so it's pretty fun and no one abuses it.

    just a thought...

    I'm on a couple of boards with Pay It Forward threads. Never works quite right and is a big headache.

    Personally, I like the original idea Stefan posted. It should be first come first serve. If you pay shipping, it's no one's buisness what you do with the part once you get it in my opinion. No need to complicate it with non sense as it usually becomes a nightmare keeping track of the stuff.

    I would make it where you at least have to have 20 posts to participate.

    I think it's a good ideal where all honest adults in here and most of us know each other and know what is needed by another so we can look out for the ones that might try to sneek in and do the ebay thing to try to make a buck off someone else trying to help. It is up to us to try to keep it straight and with everyones help this can been accomplished.:clap:

    I have never seen a pay it forward thread, can someone post a link to one?
