Well, I put new wheels on the Mustang yesterday. A guy my dad works with had these on his '97 GT, and the tires were extremely worn out but the wheels are in great shape. Tires are pretty pricey for these wheels (315/35ZR17 rear and 275/40ZR17 front) and he didn't have the money to buy new ones. The '05 GT wheels that were on it still had quite a bit of life left in the tires (those Pirelli's hold up amazingly well to big smoky burnouts :evilsmile ), so ended up trading the '05 GT wheels + 100 bucks for these wheels. I just got back from having new tires put on. Had to shop around quite a bit, most places wanted over $300 and had to special order them, or fight with me saying there was no way I had 315's, they must be 215's. Finally found a place in Marietta that had them in stock and for $240.. This was the old '05 GT wheels: My dad was pulling out of someones driveway one day and the chin spoiler bottomed out and got busted. we're still debating on weather to get another one or not. Next up will be swapping in a low mileage Explorer 5.0 with headers and a decent cam. The original engine still runs pretty strong, but it's pushing 260,000 miles and burns a little oil, it's had a hard time passing emissions the last couple of years.
Those are the rims I want for my maverick. They need to make them(the 17x10.5) with the right offset.
They would look awesome on a Maverick, if you could get them to fit. Found more pics of the car. This is what it looked like back in January '03, basically what it looked like when we bought it in October 2001, except it had been lowered 2 1/2 inches and had the front and rear spoiler added by this point. It was totally stock appearing, (including the near 4x4 stance) when we originally bought it. May 25, 2005 (oil was from the rear main seal leaking, new clutch and rear main seal went in shortly after that pic): November 4th, 2006: June 2007: And of course, May 2008: I guess it's come a ways.
That's an awesome looking set-up Jamie....the 10 inch rears really beef up the look of the 'Stang. I've got two sets of 17X8 Bullitts with 245/45 tires. My son hi-jacked one set for his Dodge Avenger, the other set is "stored" on my 75 Mustang II Mach-1 project. I recently got a pair of the 17X10.5 Bullitt wheels off ebay, used, but never mounted, for $145 for the pair. I just bought a pair of new 315/35/17 Sumitomos HTR-Z tires for the 10.5's off of ebay, $225 for the pair ($44 shipping). Not a bad deal. Also bought a set of 245/45/17 Sumi HTR-Z's for 2 of the 17X8's on my M-II Don't know what I'm going to put the 17X8/17X10.5 set on yet....got a set of Chevy-to-Ford adapters so they can go on one of my G-Body Malibus or my son's 70 Chevelle wagon, or I've got a couple of sets of Ford spacers to put them on one of my Mavericks (if the 10.5's will fit), or my 64 Galaxie, but more likely they'll go on my '87 5.0 T-Bird project as soon as I get the 5 lug conversion done. Decisions, decisions!
I like those wheels much much better. The others werent bad, but those are alot nicer and cleaner looking
