Do they affect you? http://www.nhra.com/content/news.asp?articleid=17364&zoneid=8 I think eighth mile racing is becoming more and more appealing - and more affordable. I forget, can an NHRA track run a NON-NHRA sanctioned event? ----------------------------- p.s. One Snell 95 Helmet for Sale Only thrown once at the feet of a track Official.
Yup...although I've had mine wired to the fuel pump switch so it was on all the time anyways I rewired the car a few months back so the parking and side marker lights were on one switch and headlights are on another...totally unnecessary but it looks good at night Good Greif... an engine diaper?!....it's always somethinhuh:
See PDF file, http://www.fia.com/resources/docume...DragGeneral.pdf and search for "retention" (it appears mumerous times throughout the document). Basically, it states the oil pan must be .050" Aluminum min or .040" min carbon fiber/kevlar, must stick out in front of the lower pulley by 1" min, some other 'stuff' about bulkheads. It doesn't affect me but it does apply to Super Gas, Super Comp, and any E.T. vehicle running 9.99 or quicker or 135 mph or faster. (yes, that means you, Rick ) I forgot about the tail light thing. I gotta do that.
gotta do tail lights, which i was anyway but not this soon, oh well thats easy compared to some of the other changes
One more reason it's........... No Hot Rods Allowed Anything they can do to make the "little guy" pay out the azz they'll do it. Nothing like a bunch of suits with no drag race experience making rules for racers.
actually 75% of the people that make the rules are racers, or ex racers... at least that is what i heard.. but yeah they are trying to make it safe for everyone... what a bummer.. with the cars getting faster, they need to be safer.
Wanna bet? Don't believe everything you hear. The actual rules committee at NHRA has 20 members. Five have actual competition experience. Eight are lawyers. Three have public relations backgrounds. Final four have MBA's from around the country. See a trend here?
Taillight says has to be functional. I think there's been such a problem on defining "night time racing" they're saying you have to have a functional light. No tape on flashers or penlights. I dont think the light has to be on for all runs. Will be making a call soon ( I think our track is switching to NHRA) and will ask on taillights.
i knew the helmet rule was coming. the light rule says it has to be functional. it doesn't say it has to be on. actually, i'm wondering if they are talking about brake lights?
the tail light is just a red light on the back of the car. has to be seen at night.. this is so they know if a car has left the track or not.
