I attempted to change my blinker cam few months back and it didn't work after I put it in..(was a cheapo from the parts store)..I left it out an just tucked the wires back into to column...and now no brake lights..i looked under the dash and everything seems fine on the switch..i noticed the wires run back into the plug that runs back up to the steering wheel...could I have fried that whole assembly somehow?

you need to get a good cam from ford or a reputable source, the brake lites and turn signal lites are on the same circuit install before you mess something up. if you look at a bulb from your tailight there are two wire filaments one is tailight other is turn and brake.

I just went through the turn signal harness deal, yes there's a difference. from what I can tell 70-72 were the same, they changed in 73 to a different plug. there are several good threads on this subject here on the forum. I needed a column for my 72 comet, 6cyl 3spd on column. I got one out of a 73 Maverick. . . . .harness wouldn't work :( I got one out of a 71 Mustang, it plugged right in and works great.
