I removed mine several months ago when I was buying a $100 small bumper + filler on Craigslist and then the guy decided the filler should be $50 extra and edited the ad to screw me after we had a deal. I never reinstalled the huge bumper because it was such a pain to get off. I filled in the bottom hole with mesh and just go with it until I can score a small bumper at a decent price.
Any other members hate the huge bumper enough to delete it and drive without?

I didnt delete mine because I didnt like it, I deleted it because one of the bumper supports rusted in half :rofl2:

I havent got a ticket yet for not having a front bumper, failure to display front license plates, or obstruction of view yet(5 1/2" tall scoop), although Im having a feeling once I get the car painted Ill be getting them. :/

No front plates? I just wire-tied them to the grill.

That didn't last long. This was at my first drag race, and some guy walks up and says, "nice sounding maverick. I have a grabber on my property, you can have it if you want it."

I get there and it has been completely submerged twice by salty hurricane flood waters, but I asked if I could take the small bumpers, mounting brackets, and grabber spoiler, and he said "I would rather you take the whole car." I said it was too rusty to tow home and I would end up with nothing but a front bumper after all the rust fell off onto the highway. Offered a hundred bucks and got the spoiler and extensions, small bumpers, and got to shoot 2 copperheads all in one afternoon!

Moral of this story: Take the bumpers off and go racing, and the rest will come to you by Karma.

By the way, that is 14" one-wheel peel smoke, not rich exhaust. Most likely THE stock tires. They didn't last even a couple weeks after this before I tossed the treads.

the 73 bumpers actually look good if you know how to tuck them.

I still have my 73 bumper in the yard along with the enormous internal I beam and mounts that don't look the same. They aren't a matched set for some reason one side looks different.

Paint tank, taking the bumper off the comet to look like a maverick would look like taking the bumper off a pontiac and trying to make is look like a chevelle. comet_003_original.jpg I love mine... Would NEVER change it! Phil

I get it...hes implying that Paintank is trying to make his car look like a Maverick and not a Comet by doing what most big-bumper maverick owners do that dont like the big bumper look. :rofl2:

    Geez Im so tired...lol
