I just removed the bumper and it doesn't look that bad.
Has anyone ever gone without or used the bumper pillars(?) for just the guards alone? Until I can afford a small bumper I was going to simply remove the pillars altogether and fill in the gap with mesh.

By law you have to have a bumper on the car.

Then something better happen soon because I will not be reinstalling that huge ugly monstrosity that was on it unless it is seriously tucked. I was considering installing the bumper guards on the pillars for now. Call me kooky but the big bumper is creating a psychic disturbance in my kickass gland and the only cure is a smaller bumper or none at all. I am looking for one locally but it is slow going.

I'm going to try that first. Two of the welded nuts on the drivers side broke free so I am having to cut the bolts off. I already got cut and I will be losing the nail on my left ring finger because of this %$#*@ bumper.

Also, the drivers side pillar is totally different than the passenger side one. Shaped differently that is.

Ive been driving around without a front bumper, front license plate, or pillars for 8 months and have never had anyone stop me...I dont think they really care as long as youre not driving crazy, but Im assuming some cops could be a-holes and pull you over but its an easy defense to say your pillars had rusted beyond repair and youre trying to find a replacement set.

Ive never heard of the "your car has to have bumpers" law...Im not saying there isnt one(maybe just not inforced), but Ive seen literally hundreds of cars driving around without bumpers

i had my bumpers off for about a year and had no problems. id thought about doing some bumpers like the 70 camaros rs split bumpers. i just dont have the skills to do it. i think ive see a brazill car with a split bumper. the commet would look even beter with the split bumper. you probly coud get the camaro split bumpers to work on the mav/comet
