i finally got around to getting my comet running again. had the gas tank cleaned and coated, put new carb on, blew out fuel lines, reconneted everything put on new fuel pump and can't get it to run without pouring a trickle of gas down the throat. have all new filters and it will not prime itself. any suggestions? it is a 302 automatic 2bbl

Fuel pump, or the inlet screen on the sending unit.

Did you get the fuel pump under the cam or over the camshaft. It is supposed to go under the camshaft. I have seen it done a lot of times. Simple fix.

    Good luck with it.

I replaced two brand new "lifetime warrantyā€¯ fuel pumps in a 45 day span before I got one that would last. It seems every time I try and deal with the so called discount auto parts stores it comes back and bites me in the butt.

When doing the first startup, I had to return two fuel pumps to get a good one on the third try. First two wouldn't pump anything.
