driving down the road one day,and my inst.lights went out.smacked the dashboard and they flickered and stayed on for about a minute, then went out again, and never recovered.all the fuses are good, and all the wiring is intact.i heard that the headlight switch could be the culprit.can anyone verify this?the switch is an orig.so it has me thinking that it is possible. any help or suggestions,is as always appreciated. thank you...chuck.
Mine would not come on, I changed the headlight swithch and it solved the problem. IF yours came and went, I would check the plug on the back of the speedo/instrument assembly to ensure that it is tight before changing the headlight switch. Good luck- Seth
thanks seth.i pulled out the cluster, and checked all the bulbs, and cleaned all the contacts, and still nothing.i'm starting to think that since the switch is orig.it's had enough.thanks for the reply...chuck.
Do you know how to change the switch? Just in case you don't: I had to remove my instrument cluster to get to it and even that does not make it easy. There is a button-small one. Either on top or the side of the switch attached to the headlight switch knob. You will see this if you go buy the new switch first. Press that button and the knob will pull out allowing removal of the switch. The plug is easy to get off. Good luck- Seth
sounds like it is a tight fit.when you push in the little button, will it extract the knob along with the rod?sounds like this is going to be fun!thanks for the heads up buddy. chuck.
You push the button in and pull the knob out. This allows you to unscrew the chrome piece that holds the switch to the dash. It is threaded into the switch and unplugs. According to the Advance Auto Parts site, they are about $13. There is a pic of the switch here: http://www.partsamerica.com/PartDetails.asp?SourceArea=&SourcePage=SEARCHRESULTS&MfrCode=GPS&MfrPartNumber=LS34&PartType=408&PTSet=A
