    Good evening all,

1976', I've searched some and have a wiring diagram for the Duraspark. Small dist cap, this indicates Duraspark I?

I've got 12+ volts through the coil and 12+ volts going to the Ignition Module. I have not checked anything leaving the IM.

Three wires going to the distribtor, I'm measuring 6-7 volts on the two vertical spades and 5+ volts on the horizontal spade (which I expected to be the ground I see on the inside of the distributor?).

I have removed the alternator and not checked the VR, assuming it's not a part of this circuit. No spark or voltage seen inside the distributor, but I'm new to the Duraspark. I was expecting a spark when cranked sim to points ignition?

    All comments welcome.

    TIA,

    Chris

PS - I am using a quality volt/ohm meter, but it is digital, which I've been told is not ideal for this application.

If it's sparking inside the dist you have SERIOUS problems...

Check voltage on negative side of coil while cranking should pulse between a few volts and maybe 8-10v... This is where a analog meter is better... You can also use a 12v test light, if it doesn't pulse the ign module is probably bad...

    Update,

The ignition module tested bad, so we replaced it last week. Confirmed spark, but no time to continue.

Lots of work on my daily driver Saturday, busy after church today, BUT, went out and poured a little fuel in the Maverick carb and cranked. You could tell it was hitting, so we rigged a fuel bottle directly to the carby and after tweaking the timing a little, she started right up. I even revved it a couple if times until my son pointed out the fuel pump was pushing nasty gas on top of the engine. Starts easy and sounds reasonably good.
