I know i probably sound stupid asking this but..
what is the purpose of the strut tower braces on the maverick? the reason i ask is because i dont like the way they look in the engine bay and was wondering if you could go without them. would there be any consequence structurally? if so is there an alternative to having them or would i just have to live with them.
any info on this would be grate

They hold the alignment in the front end by helping to control the flex of the uni-body, particularly keeping the shock towers from sagging in towards the center of the car. Without them, the car chassis will be unstable.

They are necessary and will often be replaced by a stronger 1 piece bar called an export brace and even beefed up further with a Monte Carlo bar.

Search MONTE CARLO BAR and EXPORT BRACE and you will find more info .......... (y)

Here is a picture of a 1 piece export brace I made for my car.

Ford, GM, Mopar and AMC wouldn't had spent time and money if they wasn't needed. 1-piece Export brace is the way to go...its more sturdy than the heim joints, less moving parts.

I guess that's why Ford changes things every 30-45 days.

Yea, and those same people don't DRIVE their cars either. These cars are 40 years old now, the unibodies are not what they were when new. I would never drive mine without the braces.
