    o.k. boys and girls,
i put a new set of doors on my grabber.(thanks m.a.v.)
i installed the pass. door first. when i mounted the ...sport mirrow...i matched the mounting holes in the grabber door.
when i installed the driver side door it had the holes for the small mirrow but in the center of the two mounting holes was the hole for the ...remote...cable. the mounting holes are too close for the ...sport...mirrow. why would the big hole be there? and why would the mounting holes be closer to the door edge? now my mirrows are offset 4" of each other. :yup:
now what set of holes will i need to do away with. i like the stock holes in the drivers door but will they work that close to the edge? ...frank...:bouncy:

:hmmm: I don't know the solution to your problem, Frank. It does look like you will pick which mount you like the best and make the other door conform. Nothing like getting a door painted again, huh?:banghead:

By the way, that cute little girl don't help the car any. Well, it does divert your eyes from the car.:biglaugh:

I don't know why mirror holes are like that - but I ran into the same thing. If you look at the picture of my Maverick in the Racin Maverick gallery - this is why there is dark gray primer around the mirror in contrast to the light gray primer. I tried to mount the mirror close to the original holes...found it wouldn't work exactly right......cut some slugs and rolled the welder out...

A real shame for you....your primer looks a lot nicer than my primer... :biglaugh:

My mirrors were off a Torino and they ware slightly different from the regular sports that you have. That probably had more to do with it than anything.

All doorskins had a hole for the remote control mirror whether the car had one or not .. As far as measuring ...

Both sides of my Grabber's Sport mirrors forward hole is 13 1/4 inches from the edge of the door when measured along the body line ...

My 74 Standard driver side Chrome mirror's forward hole is also 13 1/4 inches from the edge of the door when measured along the body line.

Not sure what is up with your driver door ... maybe it's a 69 1/2 or 70 thing ... what is the door off of?

Now why would you put 69 1/2 doors on a 73? :) I guess that case is closed ... everyone knows 69 1/2 were the "wacky" years of the Maverick .. and I mean that in a good way ... :)

I just took the measurments on 3 cars, all have two sport mirrors, and it's 12" from the center of the front screw to the edge of the of the door on all of them,

Gee Frank. Your wife sure looks young! A regular "Georgia Peach". :D

(I have nothing of value to offer you on this topic. I'm pathetic. If I had my Maverick here, I'd measure my mirrors for you - if that counts for anything).

Whatever you do, I'm sure it will turn out nice. (y)
