Hey guys just bought a 72 been sitting in a barn for 10 years I have changed the plugs wires Cap rotor starter solenoid ignition coil still not even trying to fire what else could it be ?
Welcome to the forum, from northeast Illinois! Could be a lot of things, fuel issue, engine timing to name a few. Have you tried grounding plug wire, checking for spark? Have you had this engine running prior to gettin on this forum?
I just took the cap off and checked for the points for spark it was good and no I haven’t personally had it running it turns over really good just not even trying to fire
Ground plug wire to engine block checking for spark at plug. No fire -- no start. Make sure you have no gasoline near where grounding occurs and don't hold wire w/ bare hands. If good spark at plug U can start checking for other things.
... "I have changed the plugs wires." check firing order, may have a wire crossed. even at that it should at least pop now and then.
Yes, check for spark at the plug. Is your engine to body ground strap good? Take it loose at both ends and scrape or sand the lugs and whatever metal they contact on engine or body to make sure you have a good connection.
Got it started today changed the fuses and it fired right up dying right out though but hey some progress going to change the fuel filter and clean the carb next
Fires with the key in start position but dies as soon as it returns to the run position? If that's the case it sounds like you're on to a bad ballast resistor or something else in that circuit.
