What kind of oil and how much should I put in a 1970 for maverick I was thinking 10w 30 and 4.5 L but what do you guys think?
This time of year kinda depends what your range of temps are, anywhere in the great white north(US or CA), I'd use 5W-30.. Questions like this are why location should be MANDATORY when registering...
10W-30 or 40 is what I use year round. I do drive my car occasionally during winter months as long as streets are dry.
Anything 30. Weather it be 0w30 5w30 or 10w30 as along as it gives you 10psi per 1000 rpms you're good to go
Yeah lol im talking more about mid/upper rpms...4k 40psi Not talking about near idle psi or cold or hot psi at idle 1k you should have about 20 -25psi warm in gear
Assuming one is driving a Maverick in extreme cold(below zero) the 0W-30 will provide easier cranking while maintaining proper oil pressure when hot... AFAIK all 0W-xx oils are synthetic as std dino thickens too much to get the 0W rating... AS a FYI don't think 0W-30 oils are too thin cold or hot, only difference from say 5W-30 is the 0W doesn't thicken as much, but is still far thicker when cold than optimum(like 25x times thicker than hot)... A 5W-30 would be something like 35x time thicker in extreme cold, either are approx same when hot(100C*)...
