Brent Hajek loves racing cars and corn. The Oklahoma corn farmer is also the proprietor of a race car museum, and has managed to combine his two passions in an effort to set a new land speed record.

The idea came out of the record Ford set with a Mustang Mach 1 some 40 years ago. Hajek wanted to commemorate the event by returning to Bonneville, and even got the original record driver's son to pilot his modified S197 Mustang. The idea really gained steam - and support from FoMoCo - when Hajek and co. decided to go for the record using E85 bio-ethanol. They set a top speed of 252.78 mph, which will be a new record if and when they manage to replicate it so it can be etched into the books. In the meantime, Hajek is convinced the initiative will pave the way for Ford to produce an E85-powered Mustang straight from the factory, which may be the corniest Mustang dream we've heard yet. Follow the jump to watch the video.

Sure... Why not promote ethanol when you're one of the folks getting rich off government subsidies. The government pushes ethanol on us by force, and it pushes up all our food, car, and fuel prices. What they don't tell you is that everyone involved is getting rich off us via raised prices and the government filling their pockets with subsidies. Foremost example: It costs several dollars a gallon just to make ethanol! They would never get away with charging us for it since we are being required to use ethanol over a cheaper substance, so the government pays for the making of ethanol. And who gives the government it's money to do so? Us.

Another thing the tree huggers and government don't tell:
More pollution and petroleum based fuel consumption is caused by the making of one gallon of ethanol than that one gallon of ethanol makes up for! It is making the earth dirtier, not cleaner. It is using more petroleum, not replacing it. It is sucking money from our pockets, not filling them. It is making corn farmer richer for doing less work, not rewarding them for productivity that is the foundation of our system.

It's the state representatives bringing home the pork... that's all.

Hey this story was in the same issue of HotRod that my car was in. :p

I believe the Mustangs in the picture are Danny and the late Mickey Thompson's.
