Hello I have a 89 5.0 but my timing cover that don't have the spot for the oil dip stick or fuel pump, I know I can run a ele fuel pump but can i drill or tap a hole in the newer timing cover for the oil dip stick or will i have to get an old style cover and will it fit my 89 block?

    thanks for any input.

I have seen timing covers that have the flat area cast into it just like the early covers except without the hole. I have also seen later timing covers without the flat area cast into them. If yours has it then you can drill the hole. Don't forget to plug the hole in the side of the block where the 5.0 dipstick was.
Also keep in mind that the timing covers are different for standard and reverse rotation water pumps.
