This river cruise is not part of the official Gathering itinerary, as it would get a little pricey for families, but I thought I would put the information out here for those arriving early or desiring an additional activity. http://www.dubuqueriverrides.com/cms-view-page.php?page=rates-schedule If anyone is interested, please contact me at j.grice@mchsi.com
They are fun. I think it is fairly easy to get on one as a sngle or couple. If more folks were interested, I would have to reserve space for the group. That's why I wanted to get it out there ahead of time for people to think about
I was at the National Mississippi River Museum today, wrapping up details for the Gathering. I mentioned to the manager that it was too bad we were going to miss the arrival of the Coumbus Nina ship which will dock the following week. He mentioned that the Mississippi Queen and the American Queen steamboats will be docked at the Dubuque Harbor on July 15 & 16, for those who arrive in Dubuque early. The American Queen is huge. I believe it has 6 levels & cabins for 450 people. http://www.americanqueensteamboatcompany.com/destination/upper-mississippi/rivercruise-stlouis-stpaul-v1/
What a well-behaved group. I expected some jabs from certain folks about a "boat ride", but I guess that ship has sailed.
