Well, here is the 72 Grabber I told some you about. I finally got over to my friend's place. His name is John Carlson. He lives in Snohomish, Washington. He's not into computers & doesn't own one. Here is the story about "Lil Thunder" as told to me:
In 1972 he went to Bickford Ford to buy a Mustang. When he walked into the showroom, there was a red 72 Grabber. He thought, nice looking car. He looked under the hood, it had a 302 V-8. He said very nice. Then he looked inside, it had a 3spd on the floor. He said, I want it. It was a daily driver when first purchased. When it got to 1,600 miles, he got the drag racing bug. Took it off the road & the car has seen 1/4 mile at time ever since. He replaced the 3spd, with a 4spd. It runs low 11's. It still has the 302. Does have mods. He installed a roll cage. Put in a 9" rearend. Just installed another new 4 speed. The interior still has the new car smell. He promised me that he would be racing the Maverick next year (2010). And that he would make it to a few Maverick/Comet events. It is still in progress of being updated. The car is amazing for being original paint, interior, etc. But, I did manage to get him to take the cover off, for a couple of pictures. I'll get better pictures next year when he takes her out. Enjoy!!!
This "Lil Thunder" will give Jimmy2gates & his "Blue Thunder" a close heads up run. Hopefully he'll make it to Mission next year. I'd like to see the 2 "Thunders" go heads up. I'll keep after him....

Still in the 1,600 range. The next time I see him, I'll look at the odometer.

Yes, I agree with the hood. I asked when did he put the tunnel ram scoupe on it. He said it's always been on it. I never remembered seeing it before. He also made the dual scoupes functional. The reason the carpet is folded over like that, is so he can modifiy the hole, for the 4spd shifter. Can you tell it's been garaged all it's life? LOL

Wow that a real treat to see an original owner car with that few miles on it, how can people do that?

Very impressive I dont know if I want to be around showing my car when that is there, nobody would look at mine, even me. :)

There seems to be a lot of nice Mavs and Comets up there if people would just bring them out for just on get together we could rival the other shows. :thumbs2:

Fantastic looking car! It is a shame it spends it's life in a garage. Hope he brings it out soon. Think he would ever sell it?

Don't think he'll ever sell it. He's always updating it. And still likes to take it to the track. He says he'll be going to the track this year. And tells me he'll make it to the MCCI Washington State Mini Meet 2010.
