I have a 302 w/ the AOD. My car had a 200ci w/ the C4. My question is will the drive shaft I have work with the AOD? (which is longer than a C4)

Also, I have the stock 8 inch rear end.

    Thanks,

Some people say it does, some say it doesn't. From what I've been told there are 2 different lengths of AOD's. I bought a slip yoke from National Parts Depot that is suppose to eliminate any shortening of the driveshaft, I don't know if it works yet, but it's a genuine Ford part.

There are four different combinations of AOD lengths. There are two shaft lengths and two tail housing lengths and they can be used on the same tranny to provide long shaft short housing, short shaft and long housing, long shaft and long housing and the short shaft with a short housing. Add to that the added inch of main case length and you have a guessing game for your driveshaft fit. If you carefully measure the distance from shaft front u-joint to the rear u-joint and the distance from the shaft to the pinion flange mounting surface you can measure your transmission after it is installed and you have the length that you need compared to what you have. Without installing the tranny and taking the measurements you can't know for sure.

...while it's on all fours as I was told (moment arm gets longer when rear suspension is exended).
