Anyone going to the Outlaw Street Car Reunion this weekend in Memphis? Me and some buddies are heading out at 4 tomorrow morning to go. We went last year, but after the 3rd snow delay, we packed it in and headed home to get warm lol. We like to have froze to death. This year looks like MUCH better weather, and there have already been many 3 second runs in testing today. Looking forward to it!

Awesome weekend! Saw several 3 second passes in RVW, and I can't count the 4 second passes for the weekend. Weather was fantastic on Friday...sunny and 71 or so....Saturday wasn't exactly beautiful...only mid 50's. Still a great time was had by all. One Maverick on the property, and he was running the 6.0 Index Class. Was running a 557 BBF. Very clean car.

Was exactly what I needed to get motivated for the upcoming engine build. Ordering the 418 rotating assembly in the morning.

What heads are you going to run on your 418?

Just the AFR 185's I have right now. They've been worked on before, but I'm not sure what they flow now. I'll be getting a set of either the AFR 225's, or TFS Highports later. Too much going on at the moment to do everything at once.

I ran a old set of well ported 206 twisted wedge R heads and made 692 HP 545 ft lbs torq at 7300 rpm about one second faster in the 1/4 mile over the old 347

From what I remember those R heads were pretty good, quite a few people won races with them. Some of the Hot Rod magazines ran articles about them & what they were capable of especially porting them.

I have no idea what the heads I currently have flow, and I have no doubts they'll choke this bigger combination some. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm stuck with them for a bit. We'll see how it runs for now, but larger heads, as well as a larger cam, are definitely on the to do list. Current cam is .614/.621 lift, 240/254 duration @.050. Larger cam should make a noticeable difference if the heads can flow the air.

    We'll see ;)

They had a good turnout...It didn't look like as many cars as last year, but the PDRA had an event going in Tulsa at the same time, so I think folks headed West thinking the weather might be better. In reality, it was almost identical weather in both places. At any rate, it was a fun event, and at lease we didn't get any snow delays this year lol.

Roller or flat tappet? Running split ratio rockers(1.7 intake/ 1.6 exhaust) will help the intake side of the equation too, Maxx. You can buy half sets fairly reasonably. Seat numbers stay the same but the valves acceleration rate is increased for more area under the lift curve. Just make sure that you already have adequate PTV clearance and a little extra margin with your current valve spring pressure, is all.
