I made a template of my 68 Cougar tail lights so I can install on my Mav. At first I thought that maybe the assembly was bent slightly. But on each tail light there is a slight bend (designed that way), so that is how the Cougar panel must have been. Anyway the bend is so slight do I need to worry? Should I shim it or something? Initially I dont want to do sequential as I am just pouring a ton of money in this car. So I am going to splice out my brake lights on each side. Do I need to change the flasher or will it work? Or is LED bulbs the way to go. The LED flashing unit is only $12 at autozone. Does the Maverick tail light socket plug into the Cougar lights or do I have to get a special size. Thanks
your right about the slight bend in the housing. it stayts about 2/3 of the way towards the inside. you also have to take into accound the raised portion through the sencer of the maverick tail panel. i think the cougar tail lights are wider and will over hang on the top and bottom of that raised area. swapping out the whole tail panel for flat steel seems like the best way to go i think the maverick bulb sockets are diffrent sizes but believe it or not i havent had the cougar's and the maverick's side by side yet. also the maverick only has one tail/ brake light bulb, the cougar has 3 per side so your gona have to wire up something some where to make it look right and then extent the reverse light wires down to the valence for the little back up lights. im thinking of just ordering a 67 shelby tail panel and doing the shelby lights like rayzorsharp did, except he used 68 shelby lights. cougar lights are the same as 67 shelbys but without the grills
