i picked up my caltracs at firebird yesterday. thought it was pretty nice of john calvert to offer to me his pit bike to take the bars back to my car. i also talked to the msd techs about a new coil and they said the latest is the blaster ss pn8207. this is supposed to be better than the blaster II and put out more amperage. also not oil filled so it dosen't have to be mounted straight up and down. he also said the wires from the msd to the distributor should be 4" from any other wires.:)

I'm sure you already know this but, the CalTracs are a relatively easy install. But because I had a 2" lowering block on my rear suspension, I had to buy longer Grade 8 U-Bolt$.

I've heard nothing but high marks for the CalTracs.

Good luck with the install and the new-and-improved 60 foots!

wow thats some service... now only if my cal trac's would work better then my old 19.95 slapper bars. guess i gotta get them to work right :D

as for MSD i switched to that as well but really didn't notice any differance.. maybe its a differance you can't feel or see. wait did that make sence? but yes the best part about it is you can mount it where ever and however.

Cool, I got the same coil. Just picked it cause it looked like it would work.

My Caltracs helped a little, but I think once I start adjusting them, they will work better.

Don, you going to the PSCA race at the end of March at Speedworld?

Rick, any problem with running the 2" block and the caltracs? I am worried about any shifting of the block on hard launches.

to me the two inch block would effect more of the pinion angle also limiting traction in general. then again i shouldn't talk cuz i can't et my car to hook up with a beans :p

I had 1" lowering blocks with the Cal Tracks for awhile. No problems noted. Although I would recomend having the springs dearched and remove the blocks. Only cost around $25 here to have them done. I eventually bought new springs and didnt need the blocks anymore.

Hey Rick, where did you get the grade 8 U bolts?

Wow! I was quoted $200 to re-arch both springs (2 shops) which is why I went to blocks..

Don after you get your caltracs on you will have to play with them to get or money worth out of them.

My setup likes them with preload but I've seen other Mavericks/Comets that like them to be a little loose and hit hard when you leave the line. So this will take a little playing with.

Make one change at a time and after going one way then another you'll tune them in.

Good luck this year, you can always repeat and make us proud!

Sorry I'm late in responding to the questions above (I think my g/f gets on here every now and then and when I get on, I hit the "New Posts" button and I only see what's been posted since she logged off).

Anyway, the new Grade 8 bolts never made it to my door (gotta talk to my buddy about that). I currently have the cheapy Grade 5's.

As far as pinion angle goes, I don't think that's an issue. A guy who sets up drag car suspensions didn't say it was a problem when he was putting the QA-1 shocks on. I suppose I'll find out at the track.

Also, the Cal-Tracs will reindex the pinion angle whenever they are adjusted (won't they?)
