Can you say expensive? We just painted a yellow Maverick. It was a Mercedes color and it was over $130 a QUART! It took 6 quarts just to cover the car plus all the jambs. I can't even begin to guess how much that yellow paint would cost. Scarey stuff!

Hey Jean, ever price House of color paint? I got a buddy with a 38 Ford coupe painted with HOC yellow. He said the paint was close to $3K.

Yes we have priced House of color paint. It's great stuff, but it cost more than a lot of the cars it goes on. Way too ritzy for this part of the country.

Are you planning to have all the jambs painted too? The reason I ask is because Mark had all the jambs painted and he has a vinal top on the car and it still took 6 quarts of paint to do the job. That yellow paint was quite transparent, so it took more to cover the car. I hope 1 gallon will be enough.

If my memory is correct, David used a little more than a quart on my jambs.
He then used a gallon on the body, and has a little left over for touchup.
That was 2 coats of Dupont 'Ford 2B'. Then it was 3 coats of Chromaclear.

I think he billed me about $900 for paint and clear alone.
