I am having trouble picking a paint color or scheme for my car. I want it to look modern with classic touches I pondered on... dark red dark green metallic silver with black stripes metallic blue again.... maybe with white stripes This will be with a boss 429 scoop and will probably be body color Also a factory spoiler i am not considering hot pink as a option or suggestion:16suspect
Just my opinion Justin I'd stay away from traditional blues and reds and all metalic or metal flake paints they have been done to death. Maybe I'm screwed up but I love those colors that look plastic and bright. With the exception of a flat black hood or the Cobra jet Scoop
if i can chime in here, there is the option of going with the original graber colors. just something to think about. imo the grabber blue rocks.
Grabber blue is probably the prettiest of the blue colors but almost everyone who has or wants a Grabber or does their Grabber Clone in that color. Not to mention Mustangs recently started using grabber blue again and I see it a lot at car shows. Don’t get me wrong there were some Cool Original Colors sometimes in name only when the Maverick and Pinto debuted. They were so different and refreshing especially the 71-71 Maverick Grabber Hood, it’s my personal belief its creator had read about how the fins on cars of the fifties were inspired by the bombers of WW II and thought Hey why not an engine cowl. I almost feel like I’m in an ME-109 when I get in my Maverick those two bumps sure resemble the ME-109's two cowl gun ports. The last thing I wanted was another red car my 72 Comet was red but I bought what was close at the time. From WicapdiA; At introduction, exterior paint carried distinctive names including Anti-Establish Mint, Hula Blue, Original Cinnamon, Freudian Gilt, and Thanks Vermillion along with more pedestrian names, including Black Jade, Champagne Gold, Gulfstream Aqua, Meadowlark Yellow, Brittany Blue, Lime Gold, Dresden Blue, Raven Black, Wimbledon White, and Candy Apple Red. In the first half of production for the 1970 model, there were two available engine options, a 170 CID I6 and a 200 CID I6. A 250 CID I6 was added mid-year.
For those of you to young or who are not aviation buffs too these pictures are what I'm talking about. I’m sure you all know the storey about car designers and engineers of the 1950’s being inspired by the tail sections and wings bombers of WW II for our finned cars of the 1950’s. Sorry for Hi-jacking your thread Justin but what do you all think? About the 71-72 Mavrick hood.
IMO I think that some sort of black with silver stripes would be cool. But black is so hard to get right. I'm planning on painting my car black with white racing stripes or maybe boss stripes. Still haven't decided. Black cars look hot when they're nicely done.
That color sounds good is your interior black? I remember there was a member here with a dark green Maverick or Comet in Arizona, then it was for sale I dont know if it sold. And Black and Silver is always a Killer look on Mavericks. Is your Mustang gone?
