what year did they stop painting the engine bays the same color as the body and started painting them black. thanks homer
yeah dave boyer dosnt think my mav should have a painted the same as body engine bay or maybe it does because it was special order color. any how no big deal because im painting it black anyway.
i know gene i have and i dont think my motor looks right with the purple.plus i can always change it back.
I think the red cap and blue wires are throwing off your judgment j/k It's your car so it only matters how you like it. I personaly think the motor sets it's self off and looks sweet. The engine bay in black makes it harder to see details for me. Too blendy...
I just found it weird that it was purple, and the hood hinges are also purple? Most cars up to and including 73, have natural colored hood hinges, and cad plated fender bolts, and some have black engine compartments (70-72) But since this was a special order color, it may have been removed from the line and painted, then put back on, so there could be some difference...There was no way they had a guy ready with the purple, in the paint shop, so it definitely has some differences
I personally LIKE your engine up against the purple background, it's a really nice contrast. I was glad to hear you were repainting it, it will look great freshened up. Chris
dave that sound like real good reasoning why everything in the engine bay was purple and i think your right about pulling it off the line to paint it.to bad we couldnt find somone who was there in st.thomas when it was built.i think st. thomas. it was built in canada
yep purple it is you all win.and my wife told me the same thing keep it purple. and if mama aint happy nobodys happy
I know 3-4 old guys that worked there in the 70's, directly in the paint shop. I'll ask one of them and see if they remember anything. The one guy is pretty sharp, I've learned alot from him, just the "why" and "how" they did the things they did.
