Hey again, the polished headlight surrounds on my car are not painted and want them to be like most others- gives the impression that they are recessed into the front a bit which I am definately after.

So as I want the polished lip around the headlight and the other round the outside but the middle painted- how do I do it? I would normally key it with wet n dry but obviously cant scratch up the bits I want to keep shiny!

Is a good clean with chemicals the answer followed by etch primer?

The trim rings are aluminum. They are anodized when new and any remaining anodize must be removed before painting.Glass beading works,Easy off oven cleaner works too.Sand paper will cut it too.The polishing part is easy to do once the parts are prepped.Any descent rattle can black will do the job.If you only want to do em once, get a good automotive paint and clear em when done.

Only just realised the lips around the edges are slightly raised so makes painting and polishing a lot easier! There are some scratches in mine though so may take them to a polishers.
