Just thought i would ask what you guys think is the best paint for all the kick panels and dash and stuff. It is blue now and i am going black with the interior.. Any help would be great. I found some stuff from the eastwood company that looks pretty good but never used it.. Thanks Josh..

I now use only SEM products for my interior color changes. Thorough cleaning is of the utmost importance. After cleaning with soap and water, use a good grease and wax remover.

For soft vinyl, use their Vinyl Prep followed by the color of your choice. For hard pieces, light sanding may be needed. Use SEM's Vinyl Prep, followed by their Flexible Primer Surfacer. After sanding the primer with 400 grit, use the color of your choice.

You can buy SEM products at most automotive finish stores. If you have a lot to paint the same color, you need to buy in quart cans and use a spray gun. I've posted some detailed threads on here before about changing the color of door handles, door panels, and the plastic grill.

I get mine from my local paint supplier. Dont know what it is but it works great. Just pour it in the gun right out of the can and shoot it.

I painted my kick panels and my armrests black last night... I used "Duplicolor: Vinyl & Fabric" paint.....

But.. black is easy because it almost always comes out good!!!

P.S.-It was on closeout at walmart for 75 cents per can!

I read on these forums that Krylon Fusion rattle cans work very well. I used the black on my interior plastic trim and it turned out looking awesome. The prep is minimal and the result looks great! I've read that the durability is fairly good as well.

The problem I have with the Duplicolor vinyl paint is that it is not durable on the hard plastics. I've seen it peel right off after several months. My experience with it is that it will peel regardless of the prep work.

duplicolor isnt good on plastic as menton it will peel off(buts its a good price for .75 i paid $5 a can), but it works very good on aluminum and iron.
