Okay all you paint experts, here are a couple questions.

As part of my engine compartment detailing project, I'm pulling the steering column out of my 70. While it's out I might as well paint it.

The black used for the column, is it flat black, semi-gloss (or satin), or what?

Also, do I need a special paint for that plastic "collar" that's just below the column shift?

    Thanks.

hmmmm, you are best picking one up that is already black.

can't tell you exactly what color...but I painted part of my 86 gt interior black.

stay away from gloss, it looks real fake

    flat or semi

I'd use satin or semigloss. Flats don't clean too well. The paint is too porous.

On the plastic collar....use a vinyl paint.
