Partial seat cover?

I have similar looking seats (black vinyl), but without the red strips. Could anyone tell me what the red strip is? Does it cover the seat or is it part of the seat? I would really like to do something like that to my seats.

it is part of the seat cover. you would need a shop to make the complete cover...
