I just pulled a pair of spindles from a '75 Monarch and am preparing to swap them into my Mav. My ball joints and tie rod ends are sloppy so I want to replace them as well. Do I need to get these parts based on the Monarch or Mav setup? I have manual steering and plan to leave the brakes manual. Also will I need to use the brake hose bracket from the Monarch or can I use the existing bracket on my Mav?
You will have to use the brake hose brackets and front brake line sections. I used spindles from a '75 Maverick and did not have to use different tie-rod ends...everything bolted right up...
Thanks T.L. I found the how-to article on maverickgrabber.com that confirms that the tie-rod ends don't need to be swapped, and it looks like both cars used the same part number for the lower ball joint/control arm assembly, so the only thing I'm unsure of is the upper ball joint, so I guess the only thing to do is try them for fit and see what happens. Thanks.
You will be surprised how much of the undercar of the pre '79 Granada/Monarch is interchangable with the Mavs. They were largely the same parts.
