I am struggling with what color to paint my 1970 Maverick Grabber. It is original vermillion white with black racing stripes. the thing is Im not a big fan of white but I am worried it will hurt the value of the car by painting It a diff color. any suggestions?:hmmm:

Are you painting the car to sell it in the future or are you building it for yourself? IMO white cars almost always look good and you can't go wrong but you gotta paint it whatever color trips your trigger if you are gonna be happy with it long term.:yup:

These cars are not collectable in the sense that true collectable cars should be. They sure dont bring in top dollars so I'd paint it what ever color suits your fancy. Heck, I got a Sprint which is one of the rare ones and I still painted it a different shade of white and restomodded it to hell.

If you are gonna sell it and want it to get attention I'd paint it either Grabber Green or Grabber Blue ...

    You want opinions?

If I were building another one in any color other than black,
I would change it to a metallic orange/rust. I think that Honda
used this color on some of their recent cars. Dodge is using it
    as well.

I think that it would look sharp offset with matte black stripes.

    My $.02

to be honest.....you can paint any car any color and make it look good. making a car is a unique thing as it is..... everyone has different ideas, differnet concepts and different opinions..

do what you like and as long as you like, it is good.

you dont have to change colors completely.......you can always add stuff to the paint system.... like pearl in the clear coat, tinting in the paint, etc...

my wife wants me to do the original color and i dont like the medium green so i will be makign the green a little darker and then adding a redish or gold pearl to the clear. just to make it different....and then the interior is going to be balck and gray..

good luck in whatever you decide....

these cars will bring whatever money someone will be willing to pay for them..

take rayzorsharp's car for instance.... i bet he could get $10k to $15k minimum for it..... its awesome.....but he took the time and did it completely....

Just remember this, if you decide to go with Grabber Green, the formula for 1970 is different from 1971...same code Z for both. The 70 formula is a non-metallic color and 70 has metallic. I think both colors are great. I do have a 71 Grabber green one but I also really like the color on Earls car.
