It is setting a little lower than it was before I swapped the suspension, but I am rubbing a touch on top at full chock.

I like the stance, and I can drive it as it is, but I cannot turn full chock.

I think, since I need new rims anyway, I will allow this front end swap to snowball into a new tire/rim purchase. Go up to 17" rims, and get a little more backspacing to pull these wheels in just a touch. Even a quarter inch pulled in would help tremendously.

But I don't think I want to lose the overall width and height of the tire.

I have always thought 18 rear, 17 front.

A birdie told me that you tried 17s and liked them, just needed a bit wider rubber-maybe 275s! Your car is sitting perfectly now, and looks like you still have good ground clearance Scoop, awesome job. Wish I could get that front end conversion kit over here:thumbs2:

Yeah, I had your 17s on there at one time, and other than the low profile tires, I liked the way they looked.

But I also like cars with a touch larger rim on the back.

I will be only buying the fronts first. Don't have enough cash to go all the way around.

275 40s on the rear don't look like low profile mate, it works out at about 27.5" rolling dia. And has as much sidewall as 265 50 15 as for fronts I think you can get a 225 50 or 55 17. If you are worried about guard clearance 215 50 17 will still fill it nicely.

Currently have 255/60r15 on the front. They fit fine, but the backspacing is off a touch.

If I still had access to a milling machine, I could mill 1/4" or 1/2" off the inside and these would fit just fine.

But yes, these did look cool on my car. Just a little too much space between rubber and fender.

Aussie, what size rubber was on those back then?

That would give me a decent starting point.

Did you hit anything under the front of the car during your test drive - looks a bit too low

It has better ground clearance than it used to, with those long-tube flanges dragging just a couple inches off the ground.

I definitely like the stance. Get the back-spacing right and all will be good.

on the back of my car I was wanting to run 275/60/15s. Mike suggested an 8" rim so the side wall would stand up straighter than a 10" rim. that's what I bought and the tires fit fine. I'm running 6" on the front with 215/60s and they work...:thumbs2:

    225 45 17 up front and 235 45 17 on the rear when I got her. I think Ed said they were 4 1/4 backspace 17x8
