I have some experience with plasti-dip and wanted to try a look I had in my brain.

It does not look perfect but it works out pretty well.

Look good except the windows. Are the headlights still functional?

I agree with ESampson , like everything other than windows and headlights.
Not sure that's even road legal on the windows ? :hmmm:

Drove it to a small car show yesterday like this.....so yes it will drive like this no problem.

If you are unfamiliar with plastidip, it is a spray on rubber satin black coating that is not particularly textured. Each layer melts the under layer and bonds to itself.

It is completely removable with no residue and small over spray droplets come off with a light rub with a clay bar.

At any point in time, in 5 minute I can bring it back to legal by peeling the spray off the windows and all the lights.

I still have more mechanical work to do to the car before it is daily driven really. So it is just a picture queen for awhile until I finish it up.

I did this to test a look I was thinking of going with, but I am not so convinced. I think gloss black on everything would look much much better. In which case powdercoating all the trim will be considerably cheaper than rechroming my front and rear bumpers....

Wasn't familiar at all with plastidip, so thanks for clarifying that.

I love the black on blue look though, and powder coating the trim would be a great option if you go that route. I personally after seeing some builds with painted trim and bumpers will be going with painted/powder coated whichever is in my budget at that time. Unless I can find some pocket friendly chromed trim. All mine are to far gone and need either painted or re-chromed as well.

Yes it can be removed with no residue, and I only did one coat. I really feel I want to powdercoat it gloss black not matte. Gloss Will look good once the windows are tinted. Either way the black and blue definitely has good color contrast, I have a vinyl cutter to make decals I may try some stripes and badging combination....

I look forward to following your build.
Blue and black combo is what drew me to mavericks in the first place.
First one I ever saw..what now 3 months ago was blue and black grabber decal package.
I like the trim and all the chrome in black better though like you have done.
I think it looks sharp, maybe even better than chrome!
I agree a glossy black would probably be more appealing visually with your build...and to be honest I will probably borrow everything you have done with the paint and trim :D
I can't wait to see what you do with the vinyl if you decide to play around with that. You thinking of grabber style? Or doing something original?

This is very similar to what i'll be doing to my car, all the polished trim will be powder-coated satin black and the rims. The hood is carbon fiber and the bumpers will be grabber blue as well as the body. I think your car looks good FTW.

I might go full bore with this for two reasons...

I need to fix the paint on the car, and I love the color but It is a single stage paint that was not rubbed out properly. This will be alot better with the trim off the car...

Bumpers are not lined up properly and need chroming. So why not powder coat and align them? :)

How hard is the drip moulding things to remove safely? What about the chrome near the back wing windows?
