Happy Thanksgiving everyone! My grabber's being mean to me... It was smoking really badly. I found out it was the vaccum modulator so i bought a new one yesterday and replaced it today. Well, I know the mod and all vacuum lines are hooked up right and it stopped smoking.... but now it won't shift :( It's a 200 automatic, '70. it just won't shift into second and it's pissing me off! It's not low on transmission fluid so I'm really lost. PLEASE HELP!

Some of those modulators are adjustable. Inside, where the line connects, there is a flat head screw. I dont know which way to turn it though. Check your vacum lines.

There is a pin that goes in the moulator to the valve body. it might have fallen out when you removed the old modulator. It will not shift without it.

Before you make any adjustments to that modulator.....
Make sure the pin is in the recess in the valve and that the valve is in the transmission correctly.
Next make sure the pin is going into the modulator and not hitting its edge.
What modulator did you replace and what was the new one? They are identified by the stripe imprinted on the end.
If your modulator has two lines going to it make sure the larger of the two is on the rear nipple and the smaller hose is on the front nipple. (the lines are different sizes and so are the hoses) If you get them mixed up it will not shift properly.

There is a valve, then the pin then the modulator. The valve has to go in the transmission so the hole down the middle is toward the modulator. The pin must go into the hole and into the modulator as you push the modulator into the transmission.
