i have been looking on the net , been to the ford super swap and called several people over the past several days and still have gotten no where..... i have a 72 ford maverick . im looking for the right and left aprons that the fenders would bolt to.. i know i need the ones that bolt infront of the shock tower on both sides and if anyone knows where i might find these picies please let me know . thanks ,mark columbus ohio
Hate to be the barer of bad news Mark, but to the best of my knowledge no body reproduces the fender aprons. I'm not positive anything interchanges with them either. If I'm wrong about that, I'm sure someone here will set me straight. Your best bet would be to try to find a good set on a junkyard car and have someone cut them out for you. A good bodyman can repair them by removing the bad metal and welding in new metal if they are not too far gone.
No new ones available that I am aware of. You can find used drivers side aprons but most of the passenger side ones get ate up from mositure trapped between the apron and battery tray and battery acid.
I have a NOS right side but am hanging on to it incase we can find someone to reproduce them. Mustang units do not even come close. You'll have to cut them from another car.
i have a left side on order i just found a left side at the ford super swap this past weekend the guy is from kentucky its a new nos fender apron i paid 85$ for it .. hey mavohaloic if you have the right side and i have the left side we can have them reproduced..... well sorry noone makes them i really need all four front and rear .but now i have the left front all i need is 3 of them well very nice web site .... latwer guys
I dont understand what your guys are talking about? The front clip or something? Somebody clue me in here... AC
The metal panels inside the motor compartment are called aprons. The panels that hold the hood hinges are the rear set and the panel that holds the battery is the right front apron, and the left front apron has the horn mounted to it.
Hey Mavaholic, there is a company here in St. Louis called St. Louis Auto Panel, they stamp EVERYTHING, maybe someone should give them a call. There must be some company in the united states that's interested.
Wonder where all of Ford's original Maverick toolings went ... Probably sitting in a warehouse somewhere ....
I was lucky enough to get an NOS one off eBay about 2 years ago for the right side for a starting bid of $9.95. No one else even put in a bid. I would have easily paid $100 for it as hard as they are to find. They do pop up every now and then. I'll keep trying until I find a NOS left side at a decent price if you guys will stop outbidding me. I don't need them yet but you never know when you will, especially when you have several Mavs.
